DETAILS OF STUDY AREA
The
study area was a coffee estate on the edge of Nagarhole National Park,
in Coorg, Karnataka, India at 12o03’N/76o03E (Map 1). Average elevation
was 900m. Estimated total area was 2 km2.
The estate included paddy fields, coffee plantations and uncultivated
sacred grove forest (Devarakadu). Other water bodies included small
streams, ponds, lakes tanks and wells. Layout of study site is given in
Map 2, details of water bodies in Maps 3-8. |
